How I got here
I go by Coley, the name my mom & grandma called me.
I am a therapist, board certified coach, educator, and creator of digital media with a lifelong interest in biology, psychology, and joy.
(Also mosses, forests, horses, mountains, seas, dogs, elephants, and superstar costumes).
If mental health, education, and creativity were a Venn diagram, my career would live in the overlap.
From trauma therapist to art teacher, from yoga instructor to health educator, from trainer & consultant to creator of online mental health media.
I used to wonder if I were lost, now I know I am on a journey to transform our understanding of mental health & wellness and to bring relief and transformation to the overburdened medical system.
In 2021, I co-founded StateChange Media with the dazzling Shauna Hill, LCSW to create a professional home for our tried-and-true Universal Accelerated Resilience Model (UARM). We developed the UARM based on the success of our live trainings, to address mental health issues that were highlighted by COVID at school and work. StateChange creates workforce mental health digital learning products, podcasts, and other mental health media based on the UARM.
I developed the Survive to Thrive (S2T) model of nervous system health based on my experience as a therapist, sitting in my office seeing one client at a time all while an entire mental health crisis unfolded outside my door!! It quickly became clear that we need more agile, accessible, creative solutions to address the gap between the level of need and the capacity of the medical model.
S2T is a non-clinical, easy to implement educational model that provides a holistic, science-informed framework for understanding the impact of the normal human stress response on how we think, feel, and act; as well as the toll it takes on our physical and mental health.
S2T also offers a simple, skill based framework for changing our relationship to stress and reducing that toll on our brains and bodies.
S2T is the framework supporting the Thrive Vibe community.

Thrive Vibe brings together women in chronic survival mode, who have lost themselves in the rat race of daily responsibility, so that we can unwind long outdated survival patterns and remember who we are underneath the people pleasing habits and "shoulds" of life.
Together we have each other's back as we build skills and develop routines that cultivate authenticity and clarity in our lives, even amid stress and chaos. I do this because from where I sit, women hold up this whole wild world and need a space to be themselves.
I read Adrienne Rich’s poem, Planetarium for the first time in my early 20’s after hearing Maya Angelou speak aloud a quote from that work:“What we see, we see and seeing is changing”
I was not a poetry lover, and to this day have limited experience with poetry, yet these words hooked my heart and mind.
A life changing poem. Who knew this existed? Not 22 year-old me.
My life has been one big science experiment to find out how to best bring about “Relief of the body and reconstruction of the mind”, and this work is always evolving.
This path brings me great joy, and I am always ready for the next chapter. Onward.
